Personal Care
Personal care is one of the most common types of in-home care.
Generally, this type of care is meant for individuals with chronic health conditions, physical disabilities, or difficulties with strength, coordination, and mobility.
Care will typically include a combination of tasks and activities, which are designed to ensure the individual's safety, comfort, and well-being.
Bathing
Our top goal is always safety and fall prevention. The bathroom is one of the most frequent areas where falls occur. For this reason, we will be there to help get things in place prior to your bath or shower as well as have things ready when you are done. We will assist to your comfort level. We have the ability to assist with sponge bathing or a complete bed bath for those that may be immobile or on hospice. Part of our initial assessment involves providing recommendations for safety items in the home such as grab bars, raised toilet seats, non-slip shower pads, shower benches, etc.
Exercise Assistance
Home health agencies, doctors or physical therapists will often send you or your loved one home with a set of exercises to build strength and endurance. Through many years of experience, we have found that mom or dad just didn't have time to get to those exercises. We solve that by being there to track the exercises and provide motivation and also give them confidence so they aren't nervous or afraid. The medical establishment will all sing in unison that exercise (when recommended by the doctor) will provide the most substantial benefit to overall health when combined with proper nutrition and hydration. We help make this a reality!
Dressing and Grooming
Often we assist with the morning routine of helping pick out the day's outfit, assist with putting on socks/stockings/shoes or complete head-to-toe dressing if needed.
Compression stockings are always difficult, shaving can be tough for a Parkinson's patient or someone that needs a little help keeping steady.
We help with makeup, hair care, skin treatments, lotion, and many other aspects of getting ready for the day as well as turning in for the evening.
Memory Care Support
We provide one-on-one support for dementia, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and other cognitive impairments.
We help our clients enjoy their days with music, games, puzzles, reading to them, or just holding their hand as reassurance that they are special and being cared for.
We help re-direct in a positive warm manner to keep them safe, happy, and motivated.
Respite Support
Often we work with families and facilities when a family caregiver needs a break or a vacation.
We will come in and help fill the gaps to ensure your loved one has the care they need and you get the rest you need.
Home Assessment
As part of our initial intake process we prefer to do an in-home assessment to help recommend supportive devices for the particular situation and conditions. Our goal is to keep you safe in your residence and ensure we have the items to help us be successful. We often find that the most frequent recommendations involve the bathroom and helping ensure we prevent slips or falls (see "bathing" section for more detail).
